- When the 1900 census was taken, Malvina is married to Larry Jaques (sic) and living in Iron River (Bayfield), Michigan. The census record says they have been married 10 years, and they immigrated to the U.S. in 1889. Also, in the household are Amos Sharkey, age 17 and Fabian Sharkey, age 12 and Joseph Jaques, age 6. Malvina says she has had 5 children with 3 of them living. Larry Jaques was a blacksmith and Amos Sharkey was a laborer in a sawmill. When Ferdinand Fabian Chartier registered for the WWI draft, he was living with his mother at 24 East 2nd St. in Duluth. He was a dry goods clerk for Mr. J. K. Stack. When the 1920 census was taken, Malvina was a widow and heading up a family of her son, Ferdinand Chartier and Joseph Jacques in Duluth (St. Louis), Minnesota. Ferdinand was a timekeeper in a shipyard, and Joseph was an order clerk in a dry goods store. When the 1930 census was taken, Fabian Chartier headed up a household that included his mother, Malvina Jacques and two nieces, Lorraine Jacques and Lucille Jacques. They were living in Duluth (St Louis), Minnesota. Fabian was single and was a salesman in a department store.
