- Ernest T. Chartier enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 10, 1908 at Sliva?, Texas. He said his occupation was “miner”. He was discharged April 9, 1911 at Presidio, Calif. On May 1923 Ernest T. Chartier and his wife, Marie and their daughters, Mary E., June E., and Dorothy E. Chartier arrived in San Francisco from Manila, Philippines on the ship whose name was Thomas. When the 1920 census was taken, this family was living at 805 Dickman in New Monterey Addition to Monterey City (Monterey County), California. Ernest was a nightwatchman at a Sugar Factory. When the 1930 census was taken, Marie and her three daughters were living at 937 Johnson Avenue in San Bruno (San Mateo), California.
