- When the 1900 census was taken, Clara was a widow living in Norway Township (Dickinson), Michigan. In this census she says she is the mother of 4 children with 3 of them living. When the 1910 census was taken, Clara and Frank were living in Norway Township. Frank worked in a warehouse. In this census Clara said she had been married to Frank 9 years and that she was the mother of 8 children with 5 of them living. When the 1920 census was taken, this family was living on Main Road in Norway Township. Frank was now an engineer in an iron mine. Frank may have adopted Malvina and Leon because in this census their surname is Plourde. Malvina was a teacher in a public school, and Leon was a pipe man in an iron mine. When the 1930 census was taken, Frank is heading up a household that includes Lona, Verna, Melvin and Chester. He says he is married, but Clara’s name is not listed. Living next door is a household headed up by Malvina Plourde. In her household was her sister, Pearl who is married to Alfred Beck. Malvina is still a schoolteacher as is Alfred Beck and Frank is still a mining engineer in an iron mine.
